Empowering today’s youth through financial education.
Every day, we see the impact that financial decisions have on people’s lives. So, in 2013, through a partnership with EverFi, a leading education technology company, we launched the Central National Bank Financial Scholars Academy, which aims to incorporate the teaching of financial concepts into local high school and middle school classrooms.
CNB’s Carolyn Haferkamp presents a certificate to Midway High School’s Nedia Lamug for completing the CNB Financial Scholars Academy.
The Academy, which is now implemented at Midway Middle School and University High School, is a new-media learning platform that uses the latest technology–video, animations, 3-D gaming, avatars, and social networking–to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s students. These concepts include, among others, renting vs. owning, credit scores, investing in the stock market, filing tax returns, and identity theft protection. To date, approximately 600 Central Texas students have completed the program.
